Green implies the idea that a product or a process is beneficial to or minimal impacting on the environment with regard to energy , resource and raw material usage in term of greenhouse gas and toxic emission and/or waste generation .Cardle to cardle is also another green term

 What is the meaning of Candle to Candle ?

The basic concept of Cardle to cardle is to use the same strategy as the nature does. This means that everything becomes a nutrient and can be returned to the environment or recycled without losing quality. Cardle to cardle  was coined by McDonough Braungart Design  Chemistry (MBDC) , which is a design consultancy suggesting companies in the area of eco-effective product design. MBDC is a third-party certifier .There are five categories under the Cardle certification . Those five categories are material health,material reutilization, renewable energy use,water stewardship and social responsibility. Compostable clothes is a new track on sustainable consumption of Puma

Puma boss Franz Koch mentioned that “Puma had the confidence to be able to bring the first shoes , T-shirts andbags either compostable or recyclable to the market in the future”. He also explained that the company was working with partners to develop products on the principle  of the Cardle  to Cardle by following either technical cycle or biological cycle. Biological cycle means products such as old shoes and old shirts shred and buried into the soil, while technical cycle means old shoes use to make a new product which is completely different such as car tyres. Marks & Spencer is partnering with Oxfam launching the program named “Shwopping”. Customers can drop pff unwanted clothing ay Oxfam outlets for 5 pound credit at M&S stores or bring old garments to M&S . The unwanted Clothing is then resold, reused, or recycled for keeping it out from the landfills

Patagonia provides detailed guides for repairing and caring for apparel items, luggage and  fasteners via a partnership with iFixit.

Collecting and recycling used goods

Puma offers “Bring Me Back” program. Any shopper can deposit any brand of appareals at collection points in Puma shops. Materials from those used  items collected in Puma shop are used to create InCycle line of clothing of Puma.

Designing for circular use

Docker-Wellthread is selling small capsule collection that is produced and built to last and to be recycled. Wellthread was launched last  year.

 Recycling via partnerships

Puma is partnering with Saitex for its Re-cut shoes. The line of Re-cut shores is made form  Saitex’s post-industrial scraps. Profits obtained from Re-cut are donated to Vietnamese orphanage.
